Shop My Favourites:

Friday, 10 November 2017

Wedding planning has officially commenced. After 6 years together, we finally got engaged on Friday 25th August 2017. I still can't believe it actually happened and there was lots of ugly crying involved.

It's been full steam ahead since then and a lot of the main things are already sorted, so I thought it would be nice to share my progress and journey with you. I am one of those girls who has dreamed about the big day since a really young age. Partially because I'm a hopeless romantic who watched too much Disney and Bollywood growing up. Playing it cool has never been a strong point.

The Venue

Before getting engaged (told you I wasn't playing cool) I had my eyes on our venue. We are getting married back in Lincolnshire and the amount of nice wedding venues are few and far between. So when I found the perfect one with stunning decor, classic and intimate - I set my heart on it.  Luckily, Nick loved it just as much as I did and so did our families.

The DJ

We were contracted to use one of the suppliers our venue recommends but luckily we found one who suits exactly what we were hoping for. I was a little picky with my expectations because the last thing I wanted was for the DJ to look like a school disco, partially because the room is quite small so it will be in most of the photos.  The playlist is probably one of our top priorities for the night as we both love music so I just hope it lives up to our imagination.

The Photographer

Up until confirming the photographer I had been very decisive. The photographer is the one thing that has thrown me off course. I had one lady in mind, who I've followed on social media for over a year - who I really REALLY wanted.

However, trying to be a sensible adult I looked for cheaper alternatives but I just kept comparing them all to the original lady. So in true Karishma style, I followed my heart and chose my dream photographer and I'm so glad I did. Photographs keep forever so I really wanted to ensure I invested in quality and someone who would capture the day how I imagine.

Ok, so I didn't actually mean to sort the dress so quickly.

It was a crazy leap of faith but when you know you know. I have a feeling it's going to be a rollercoaster falling in and out of love between now and the big day but really my biggest worry is that my fiance won't like it. I've been torn between what style to go for but I think the one I have chosen will fit perfectly with our big day.

And that's it. Well for now, I still have a year and a half to go and all the fine details to plan but please comment any tips or suggestions if you are married or you just love weddings as much as I do.
