BIRTHDAY BEAUTY PICKS

Earlier this week I turned 23 *sigh*. But getting older seemed to leave me with an abundance of Space NK gift cards, so I'm not complaining. I took the opportunity to buy myself some luxury beauty items that I definitely wouldn't normally splash out on, so I wanted to share them with you.

First up are some of the much talked about Hourglass powders. I picked up the Ambient Lighting Powder in the shade Radiant Light and the Ambient Lighting Blush in the shade Diffused Heat. It took me a good 20 minutes to actually decide which Ambient Lighting Powder to pick. After pondering between Dim Light and Radiant Light, I decided Radiant Light was more suited to my skin tone and should be perfect for the summer months. It's a beautiful warm shade which is somewhere between a bronzer and a illuminator, which will hopefully give me a sun kissed glow throughout the summer months.

The Diffused Heat blush isn't a shade that I would usually go for. I am normally drawn towards orange and peach tones but I wanted a blush that wouldn't fade away on my skin tone. The warm pink tone really lifts and brightens my face and is definitely a universal shade. The blush has a gorgeous marbled effect and is a really buildable formula.

I've been dying to try the Hourglass Veil Primer for some time now but at £52 for a 30ml, I just haven't been able to justify it. After having a browse on the Space NK website I came across this 10ml bottle. Yes, for 10ml £20 is overpriced! But I felt like this was my opportunity to try it out. I haven't used it yet but will soon be reporting back to you and how I get on with it.

Finally, after using a sample of the Cilantro & Orange Extract Masque over the bank holiday weekend and witnessing visible results, I picked up the full size version.  Although it's a masque, I think of it more as a night cream which you apply three evenings week. So far, I've used  it about four time including the sample. It's designed to cleanse the skin of pollutants, protect and soothe. I really have noticed my skin looking calmer in such a short space of time. This masque is an essential to anyone living in London.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for my birthday wishes and gifts. I feel like starting an Hourglass Collection and picking up more Kiehl's products is going to be bad for my bank balance when it's not my birthday.
