FASHION IN CONVERSATION: CHARLOTTE TILBURY

'Give a woman the right make-up & she can conquer the world'

Yesterday, I attended Fashion in Conversation with amazing Charlotte Tilbury and beautiful Kinvara Balfour, hosted at the Apple store on Regent Street. Kinvara quizzed Charlotte on her unstoppable career, brand and gave us insight into the mind of such a powerful business woman.
As you can imagine, I arrived very earlier with the hopes of getting a good view, it turned out I was first to arrive so was able to choose my own seat. Of course, I sat front row and centre!

Once both Kinvara and Charlotte were on stage, there was much anticipation and excitement, even from Kinvara herself who was clearly a fan of Charlotte's work and brand (who wouldn't be).
Charlotte started telling us how at the age 13 years old, she discovered mascara and it instantly changed her life, and she then went on to explain the power of makeup. You could clearly see that she had been inspired and driven from a very young age. Whilst telling her story, she was oozing personality, excitement and enthusiasm.

When discussing her brand, she simply said she wanted to create a 'makeup revolution' which would disrupt the industry's generic products, tools and formulas. She explained the ease of her system of 10 different looks so every woman would be able to approach the counter without panicking and not knowing where to start.

'Women expect to come out of the womb knowing how to do makeup'

Her brand was clearly inspired by all the greats she has worked with, and wanted to be able to recreate those stunning looks with ease. She explained how not everyone is fortunate enough to be Gisele, a brazil goddess who wakes up in the morning with a bronzed summer glow so she created
Wonderglow so women good fake those flawless Brazilian genes.

I believe Charlotte has created solutions for her customers, and the one product I feel like Charlotte would recommend to anyone and everyone is her 'magic cream'. Clearly loved by models and celebrities alike, she emphasised the importance of skin care for beautiful makeup and stated in the industry she was probably know at first for her amazing skincare before her makeup.

One of the many things I admire about Charlotte is her work ethic. She clearly has such a passion for her work and her perfectionist style has led to some of the best quality beauty products on the market, as she claimed 'there aren't enough hours in the day'. There are definitely many exciting things to come from the brand, with her exclusive collaboration with Norman Parkinson arriving to stores in July and it seemed even hints of Charlotte opening her own stand alone store, which I cannot wait to see come to life.

It was amazing to be able to sit on the front row and take in all of her knowledge, she is a truly inspiring woman, and I will continue to fan-girl over her and her brand for many year's to come.
